Of COURSE anarchy and violence go hand-in-hand, otherwise it only becomes synonymous with liberarianism (which it isn't). Anarchy is not a rejection of government (and it's violence), it is the embodiment of violence (direct or implied). An anarchist without government can still perpetrate violence by stealing or murdering, because he's not getting what he wants, and decides to take it for himself anyway (with no authoritative consequences). You might as well pass a law banning war... a great idea except that it will have to be enforced at gunpoint. Limited government is nothing more than a custom of those in power using it judiciously. And for an easily governed, largely self-regulating people, this works fine. But the less self-regulating the people, the more in want of governance (guidance, compulsion) they shall be. Therefore the chief principle is how shall government protect persons and property? And the correct answer is by whatever means--however "unlimited"--are necessary. But who will limit government?
