I don't really see the point. It's great that young women want to be physically fit, but watching women compete athletically is for me mostly a yawner. The women's gymnastics (& women's figure skating)is enjoyable to watch--mostly from an aesthetic point of view. Otherwise, no thanks. You are right, sports are martial in character--they were originally a way to prepare young men as warriors and men began enjoying them for their own sake.
